David White – The Whittlings

David studied visual communication, and has a career background as a graphic/brand designer and food photographer. Unsatisfied with the virtual and technology driven world of digital media, David made a conscious choice to leave the computer screen behind, and work with his hands, producing real world functional designs in wood.

After years learning the art of green woodworking, David now makes hand- made tableware for Michelin restaurants - often designed completely around a particular dish or ingredient. David also sells his work directly though his website and via his popular Instagram account. Teaching green wood‘whittling’ workshops allows David to share what he has learned.

A lifelong dream has been to one day make a living from making in wood. David is working hard to realise that dream.
