Andrew Williams

Andrew works in all formats and mediums, film and digital but occasionally when conditions come together he reverts to the most elementary form of photography: a homemade wooden box with a sheet of 5” x 4” film at one end and a pinhole aperture at the other.

The collection of photographs in Found for Abstract Finds were the result of this practice.

When the conditions are right - early morning, clear light and stillness – he sets up his camera.

Nothing happens quickly.  The exposure can be at least 7 minutes and in the darkroom processing too is slow: the handmade print is a painstaking practice of skill and patience.  The prints are the result of this process.
