Susan Bain: A Moment in Wire
Susan lives near Cardigan, West Wales. She has had a life long interest in the figure in sculpture, studying Fine Art at Leeds Polytechnic and working initially in wood, stone and clay.
More recently she has been working with wire, finding it immediate, exciting and surprising at times with the wire dictating the character and movement of the piece as she works. As a result her pieces have changed from being very grounded, still figures to ones that walk, run, dance, swim and sometimes fly. Susan especially loves the shadows they cast, sometimes seeming to interact with the piece.
Being keen on the theatre she likes to add some costume or props to embellish the story, a depiction of people going about their daily lives, a small snapshot, a moment in wire.
