Found in the Garden
26th September - 10th November
Silver botanicals by Josephine Gomersall
Found in the Garden is a celebration of plants, insects and birdlife that we all enjoy in our outside spaces.
Alex Hirtzel creates unique prints which has been lovingly drawn, hand printed and then painted in special UV paint. Alex offers you an encounter with nature that reconnects you with the importance of biodiversity through the eyes of bees. Kate Kato is a paper sculptor who creates intricate, life-sized sculptures of plants and insects, whilst artist, Rae Gervis’s work is inspired by compost and soil! Claire Spencer will be exhibiting plant inspired prints.
Alongside the wall hung work we have basket work by Mandy Coates, felted dragonflies and birds by Emma Bevan, Mariana Pavlova captures foliage and flowers in cut, fused glass whilst Margaret Brampton’s slipware, made using the sgraffito technique, uses lettering and well known lyrics as an integral part of her design.
Found in the Garden is also delighted to welcome Josephine Gomersall who makes contemporary art jewellery and silver botanicals inspired by British wild flowers and plant forms; grasses, seedpods and weeds from the wayside, woodland, field and garden.
Simon Meiklejohn’s meta-mechanical outdoor sculpture ‘This Spinning Rock’ will stand proud in our bay window, along with David Goff Eveleigh's bounding hares. Our graduate in Found in the garden is blacksmith Giles Clarke who will be exhibiting one of his garden benches. A couple of Rebecca Buck's remarkable outdoor garden sculptures complete the exhibition.
